Us
This site has two purposes:
- To provide you with information and services related to BC’s economic development plan, which is called Canada Starts Here: The BC Jobs Plan;
- It is also a place to find out more about how you can get involved with the BC Jobs Plan. This site provides opportunities to provide input, has information about regional face-to-face events and is a place for online discussions about key components of the BC Jobs Plan. For the month of November, this online discussion will focus on skills and training.
Skills For BC Discussion
Throughout November and December 2012, Premier Christy Clark held an online discussion on this site on the topic of building a skilled workforce. The five resulting discussions are now closed. You can read summaries and key themes of each of the five discussions.
We received just over 500 contributions to the discussion; there were 400 comments in the Skills For BC discussion forum, many more private emails, as well as feedback through Facebook and Twitter. Of those 500 comments, approximately 200 ideas were submitted. Since December, when the questions closed, the BC Jobs Plan Team has been working with government officials, and partners like the Industry Training Authority, to review all 200 ideas and assess their feasibility. While not every idea can be implemented, some of the top ideas will be actioned. Many who contributed ideas will receive updates via email or phone call. In addition, there will be a growing list of government actions posted at www.bcjobsplan/ideas-to-actions/.
Moderators
The BC Jobs Plan discussion forum is moderated by a team in Victoria, British Columbia within Government Communications and Public Engagement and subject matter experts across government as needed. The role of the team is to approve comments and respond to public questions. You may also see those responsible for bringing decisions forward to senior public servants and elected officials here on the site from time to time.

Please note that comments are pre-moderated/reviewed and published according to the Terms of Use and according to the following Moderation Policy.
